Give Your Soul a Rest
04/11/07
Give your soul a rest by fasting from worry, weakness, bad temper, criticism, negative thoughts, emotions and actions; feast on the fruits of the spirit: Love, Life, Wisdom, Power, Peace, Joy.
Resolve that with God's help:
I will endeavor to fast from...
Personal anxieties and take an interest in others
Fear and trust steadfastly in God
Scattering my forces and will practice concentration
Impatience and will practice tolerance
Belief in lack and give thanks for abundance
Loneliness and realize my oneness with God
Indecision I will know what I want to do and begin doing it.
Selfishness and consider my fellowmen.
Greed and instead give generously.
Gloom and cultivate a cheerful heart
Nervousness and irritability and will be calm and poised
Hurry and worry and be peaceful and serene
Belief in old age, sickness and death and know eternal youth and life everlasting.
Thinking about myself or others in critical or negative ways and I will see the Christ in every living being
Wishing and yearning to be a doer putting into practice the truth I know.
By the Grace of God I will do this.
Meditation
February 25, 2007
Now, Friends, this is a very hallowed moment in our service when we seek closer communion with our Father God, the Source of all good. Now Paul said: Know ye not that your body is the Temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells within you.
Yes, there is in every Soul a place of stillness where the Spirit of God dwells. Where you and I can find rest and peace; that the World can neither give to you nor take away. And of course, the password into this secret place within is:
Be Still and Know that I Am God.
And so we enter this Stillness now by gently closing our physical eyes; by breathing deeply and slowly. And we turn our thoughts inward stilling all anxious and fearful thoughts and emotions. Stilling all anxious and fearful thoughts and emotions. Stopping rehearsing grievances and the shortcomings of ourselves and others. We stop dwelling on symptoms and conditions and circumstances. We just relax, relax, and we let go of all people, all things, every unhappy situation and we speak softly these words:
BE STILL, BE VERY STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD
Be still.
The Lord is in His Holy Temple filling it with His Grace and His Glory; and let all the Earth keep silence before Him.
Let the Blessed Silence fill your mind and heart with its great healing balm. All the tranquility and serenity of the Spirit of God is within you now. And all around you. In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength. In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength.
The Eternal God is your dwelling place and underneath are the Everlasting Arms where you can rest from all the buffets of this World and where every need is supplied.
Be still and know that the Father, or the Christ Indwelling is the fullness of Life and Wisdom, Power and Love. And lo, He is with you always.
Be still and know that the Father, Our Father, Mother, God, or the Christ Indwelling is the fullness of Life, and Wisdom, Power and Love. And lo, He is with you always.
In this Holy Consciousness, let us silently affirm: Jesus Christ is here now. Raising me to His Consciousness of Abundant Life. Jesus Christ is here now raising me, lifting me to His Consciousness of Abundant Life.
And we pray:
ALMIGHTY FATHER, to whom during this Lenten Season, millions will turn in renewed devotion and adoration. We ask thy help in taking up the work of crossing out the weaknesses of the human self. Stand guard over our tongues. Let us never speak words of criticism, condemnation, judgment, or blame of any person or condition or thing.
Give us the vision to look within the fleshly walls of Thy Temple and behold Thy Spirit there. Quicken in us the Creative Fire which warms our hungry hearts; which stirs us to mighty endeavors; and makes the toil of self-resurrection an ecstasy unspeakable.
Father, give us Thy Joy. Joy as with infinite pains and pleasures through infinite experiences and infinite services and infinite thoughts and words and deeds of Love, we reveal Thy Spirit within.
Give us to roll away the stone of negativity that makes the flesh a tomb and let the sweetness of Thy Radiant Light make it a Grail to hold thy Triumphant Spirit.
O, Christ, Thou Son of God, My Own Eternal Self, live thou thy Life in me. Life thou thy Love in me. For I would have no self but Thee. And I would no will but Thine.
O, Christ, Thou Son of God. And Father, we are grateful that Thine is the Kingdom in us, and Thine is the Power in us and Thine is the Glory in us. Forever.
Amen.
